Cold weather

The bees are clealry unhappy with the cold. Ysterday I watched a number of them flip over as they hit the puddles on their landing board. They were able to recover, but I know they hate anything that slows them down and the chill in the air clearly does that. Sorry guys, I know it is a shock to be in Michigan after the warmth of Georgia. We’ll have Michigan born bees next week, maybe that will help. Plus it has to be warmer next week.

Zomba is cold as well. I turn off my heat as soon as possible. EVer since my furnace nearly killed me from Carbon Monoxide poisoning I never feel totally OK with central heat. I keep it off as long as possible, and love to shut it down in the spring. zombacold.jpg

I was hoping to swim tonight, but with a record low temperature recorded last night (30 at the Ann Arbor Airport), that might be difficult. The tomato plants waiting to be planted did fine, and I had windows open during the night.

TIme to get going – cleaning, bread baking, a few co-op details return some phone calls and e-mail and some work for my dad, make some butter, pick up some hardware for the lake, pick up the swim platform, mow the lawn out there – love my days off.
